Quite possibly, Loro Piana has created two of the finest summer weight suit fabrics in their “Lightest” and “the wave” offerings. Summer weight suits are defined mostly by the open weave and lightness of the fabric and no where is this more evident than in these two collections. Both feature a blend of super 600’s silk, the finest silk found in the world. One pound of yarn, if unraveled would stretch out for roughly 160 miles.
“Lightest”
Lightest is Loro Pianas signature summer weight suit fabric. It is made by using one thread of super 130’s yarn combined with a filament of super 600’s silk. Soft and luxurious to the touch, and brilliant in appearance, “Lightest” by Loro Piana is wrinkle resistant and durable. It is the ideal summer weight fabric for business clothing, particularly for travel. Developed for the warmest climates, “Lightest” skillfully combines an impeccable look and incomparable comfort unmatched in other summer weight suit fabrics. How light is “Lightest”? An unlined tailored jacket will weigh less than one pound ( around 0.68 but who’s counting).
“The Wave”
The Wave is a balance of tradition with technology. It features a blend of two threads merino wool with a sheer continuous filament of super 600’s silk, creating an exceptional, high twist 3-ply yarn. As a summer weight suit fabric this yarn produces a very light airy feel, all with out giving away the look of a traditional suit. The warm weather performance and sheer beauty of the fabric is a direct correlation to the skill used in the proprietary techniques used to create it.
