It was once said by Yves Saint Laurent “Fashions change but style is eternal” nowhere is this more evident than with -the return of- the 3 piece suit.
A main stay of mens style for over a hundred years, this is yet another example of the classics doubling as modern. Worn as a buttoned up look, a 3 piece suit was the look favored during the early part of the American 20th century. Early style icons like Rudolph Valentino to infamous individuals like Al Capone were often seen in their 3 piece suits, but as a fashion trend it originates far before that. King Edward the VII, circa 1841-1910, is widely attributed to be the reason why men do not fasten the bottom button of their 3 piece suits. Because of his girth he simply couldn’t fasten the last button…his court followed suit.
Today, over a hundred years later men, the world over still do not fasten the bottom button of their vests.
Our custom 3 piece suits can be cut with the classic styles of the past-double breasted vest with lapels, high rise on the trousers and wide sweeping lapels on the jacket, or the modern silhouettes of today –single breasted five button vest, that comes just a tad short on the back, low rise flat front slim trousers and a slim cut MOD style jacket. Some might say the 3 piece suit has returned while others will argue it had never left. The 3 piece suit proves that great style truly is eternal.
